Get Organized in 2006
By now, 2005 is already a memory, and you are hopefully on your
way to building on last year's successes and overcoming any
challenges you may have faced. If you've resolved to become more
organized in 2006, you're in good company! On her official
website, author J.K. Rowling announced that her New Years
Resolutions include decluttering her study and making sure that
she doesn't allow others to interfere with the time she has set
aside for writing.
When The Institute for Business Technology asked their clients
and associates what they would like to improve, learn, or change
in their offices for 2006, the top ten responses were as follows:
1. Don't let email run my life
2. Eat lunch at lunch time - and not in my office
3. Fall in love with my "Delete Key" & learn the power of "Right
Clicking"
4. Take time each day to think and plan my work
5. No scroll bar in my email "In-Box" at the end of the day
6. Respect my time and the time of others
7. Set and keep appointments on my calendar to read and do my
own work
8. Spend more time with my
family
9. Get organized so I stop wasting time looking for things I
can't find
10. Get fit - both physically and mentally - it relieves stress
It is interesting to note that 90% of these responses relate to
better time management or organization!
If you've already "broken" your resolution, don't despair!
Remember that getting organized, like any change, takes at least
three weeks to become a habit, so be kind to yourself, give
yourself another chance, and be sure to reward yourself for your
successes!
If you wish you had resolved to get organized, remember the old
cliché, "Today is the first day of the rest of your life." Any
day is a good day to start getting organized!
